Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy signed original 8" x 10" photo, picturing Rose and her husband Joseph P. Kennedy. The back is stamped "National Parks Service photo by Cecil W. Stoughton," as well as "John F. Kennedy NHS." Stoughton was John F. Kennedy's photographer during his White House years, so the photo was likely taken between 1960 and 1963. The photo is inscribed to the Kennedys' long-time interior decorator, Robert T. Luddington, and is part of a collection he assembled.
The photo is taped from the back into a mat to an overall size of 10.5" x 12". It could be removed, likely leaving some tape residue on the back of the photo. Otherwise Very Good condition.
Luddington played an integral role in the Kennedy story. From the National Park Service's website, "A History of 83 Beals Street":
"Mrs. Kennedy aimed to restore the home to how it would have looked on May 29, 1917, the day her son John was born. To direct the process she brought in her interior decorator, ROBERT LUDDINGTON, Director of the Interior Decorating Department at Jordan Marsh Company. Together they rooted through storage to find old family belongings, ordered reproductions of furniture, and advertised for antiques."
