Large 11" Vintage Bronze Metal Statue Sacred Heart of Jesus w/Chalice, 5 lbs
Statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
His arms are extended and open wide.
There is a chalice image on the base with rays coming out from it and encircled with a crown of thorns.
The casting is exceptional and the detail on Jesus is remarkable, from the features of his face and the hairs in his beard, to the toenails on his feet.
The quality appears to be very high.
Has a real presence that one can see and feel across a room.
No markings anywhere that I can find and no indication as to where it was made.
It's similar to other statues of Jesus made in France so that is a good possibility.
He is very heavy, weighing about 5 lbs, and the entire structure is made of metal. I assume it to be bronze as a magnet does not stick to it. There is no corrosion to the metal, and it does have a nice patina.
He also appears to be fully intact with no hole in the top of his head like there used to be a halo there.
The base measures 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" and the statue is 11-1/2" tall.
Being offered with the understanding that this is an older item that may show signs of age and wear.
Overall beautiful for age.
